Blockchain and Smart Contracts: Theory and Practice

Have you heard the term blockchain and wondered what it is? Do you want to peek under the hood of smart contracts in Ethereum and write and deploy one and connect to it through a web application? And do you want to try your hand at an implementation that has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies?

Well then, this workshop is for you! You’ll have the opportunity to both learn and practice as we’ll explain the technology and the steps needed to get up and running with it.

What you’ll need is:

• a laptop
• knowledge of a JS framework/library like Angular, React, Vue, etc because we’ll be using web3js to connect to the deployed smart contract
• motivation and courage to try something new

The workshop will be broken into two parts:

• On 28.04, we’ll dive into the theory of blockchain and smart contracts, write our own contracts and deploy them. You’ll also have the homework of writing a basic UI to interact with the smart contract.
• On 29.04, we’ll write, test, break and re-write the connection to the smart contract through web3js. Then we’ll celebrate your new skills and working implementation with pizza!

Event will be in Russian but we'll try our best to explain in English or Romanian if anything is not completely clear.
